Multi-HR Game for Ramirez in 5-1 Win
Cleveland third baseman Jose Ramirez helped his team beat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-1. Ramirez, who is a three-time All-Star, went 3 for 3 for the Guardians. The Guardians improved to 16-20.

With Cleveland leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Ramirez hit a cutter from Tyler Mahle for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 3-0. “We’ll savor this win,” Ramirez told the Cleveland Citizen, “then get ready for the next game.”

The only run for the Reds would come in the top of the 7th inning when Tyler Naquin would score on a wild pitch. Tommy Pham and Kyle Farmer would be the only 2 Reds batters to get more than one hit. Tyler Mahle lasted 4.1 innings in the loss, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Mike Moustakas left the game early with an injury and has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle and is listed as day-to-day.

Reds Lose to Guardians, 11-9
Cleveland center fielder Steven Kwan was a significant contributor in his team’s 11-9 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds. He was 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Cleveland. Cleveland pitcher Zach Plesac got the win. He’s now 2-1. Nick Lodolo was tagged with the loss. Cleveland has 3 straight wins, Cincinnati 3 straight losses.

The Guardians got an important contribution from designated hitter Franmil Reyes, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 1-2 slider into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 7-2. “One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves,” Reyes told the Cleveland Citizen.

Cleveland jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, as they’d score 4 runs on 4 hits. The Reds Kyle Farmer would hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the top of the 2nd to cut it to a 4-1 lead. The Reds would add another in the top of the 4th inning on a solo home run by Tyler Naquin, his 4th of the season. Then the Guardians bats came to life, as they’d score 3 runs in both the bottom of the 4th and 5th before adding another in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Reds would head into the 8th inning trailing 11-4.

Cincinnati would try and make a comeback in the 8th, starting with Nick Senzel drawing a walk before Ivan Johnson would score them both with a 3-1 2 run shot, his 8th of the season. The Reds would proceed to score 3 more before the end of the inning but that’s as close as they’d get on the comeback, as they’d lose 11-9.

Nick Lodolo picks up the loss, moving to 1-2 on the season. He threw 77 pitches across his 3.0 innings pitched. And allowed 4 runs on 8 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Zach Plesac pitched 5.0 innings on his way to the win.
