Reds Recap: Reds make roster moves

June 22nd – After what would be called a disappointing first couple months of the season, with the Reds being 14 games below .500 at 30-44 and currently sitting in 4th place in the NL Central. 20 games behind division leading Chicago Cubs (50-24). The Reds decided to make some small roster moves.

They have announced they have recalled 24 year old catcher Tyler Stephenson from Triple-A Louisville, while also optioning C Donnie Bell to Louisville. Stephenson has batted .276 with 16 runs, 6 home runs and 17 RBI in 152 at bats for Louisville. Donnie Bell has hit .242 with 14 runs, 3 home runs and 4 RBI for the Reds.

The Reds also placed SP Vladimar Guierrez on outright assignment waivers to make room on the 40 man roster. With that move the Reds also purchased the contract of 22 year old SS Leonardo Rivas from Triple-A Louisville. Rivas is currently batting .242 in 120 at bats with 18 runs, 12 RBI and 5 steals. With that move the Reds optioned RF Aristides Aquino to Triple-A Louisville. Aquino is currently batting .188 in his 85 at bats with 11 runs, 5 home runs, 9 RBI and 2 steals.
