After the strong start for Kent State, it’s all starting to fall apart for the Golden Flashes as they have now lost four of the last five games.

The game was close for the first half with Central Michigan taking a point 44-41 lead into the locker room. It was a game to remember Central Michigan senior forward Jeremy Miller, as Miller scored 17 points in the first half on 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc while going 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Miller also grabbed four rebounds with two assists in the first 20 minutes. The Chippewas bench scored only eight points in the first half, with sophomore guard Tom Buller scoring five of those on 2-of-3 shooting.

For Kent State, it was all senior guard Kurtis McCrary for the first half, scoring 16 points on 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc while dishing out three assists. Senior guard Brian Dixon added six points off the bench. It was a half that junior forward Derrick Ress would like to forget as he went 0-for-6 from the field and 0-for-5 from beyond the arc.

The second half continued much the same way for Miller and Central Michigan, as Miller ended the game with 33 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Miller also went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Senior guard Anthony Knox scored 21 points with six rebounds and four assists. Knox went 6-of-11 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. The Chippewas bench scored only 13 points with eight of those going to Buller.

For Kent State, McCrary added five points to his first-half total to end the game with 21 points and four assists. No other Kent State player scored more than eight points. Kent State shot 40.3% from the field and 30.0% from beyond the arc compared to 48.3% and 48.6% for Central Michigan.


The Kent State Golden Flashes took on the Eastern Michigan Eagles coming off a bad week. Eastern Michigan came into the game 9.5 point favorites.

The first half was all Kent State, as they jumped out to a 16 point 48-32 lead. Senior guard Kurtis McCrary led the way, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting with five assists and two steals. Sophomore center Jack Brown added 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting off the bench.

For Eastern Michigan, both starters of senior center Paris Pringle and junior guard Matt Norwood neither attempted a single shot in the first half. Junior forward Adonis Joseph and senior forward Joe Curley both led the way with six points each. Joseph also added three rebounds with two steals, while Curley grabbed three rebounds of his own. Junior center Marquis Myles also added six points of his own off the bench.

The second half was a much closer half, as Kent State only outscored Eastern Michigan 40-38 but thanks to the massive lead in the first half, the Golden Flashes were able to hold on for the 88-70 win. McCrary scored eight points to finish the game with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc while dishing out seven assists. Senior center Adam Robinson scored 16 points with six rebounds and two assists. Brown added eight more points in the second half to finish the game with 19 points off the bench on 9-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and two assists.

Junior center Marquis Myles led all players for Eastern Michigan off the bench, scoring 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while going 4-of-6 from the free throw line. Curley led the way for the starters with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc. Joseph added eight more points in the second half to finish the game with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.

The Golden Flashes shot 58% from the field and 47% from beyond the arc, while Eastern Michigan shot 43% and 23%.
