Buffalo Sabres offseason recap

The Buffalo Sabres have not had a winning season in a decade. They have not made the playoffs since 2010-11. And of course, the Sabres have never won the cup in their 50 years of existence. So some might say there is no where to go but up.

Today it was announced that Jack Eichel’s time in Buffalo has come to a end. The Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets announced they have made a trade. The Jackets receive C Eichel (91 ovr) who has 5 years remaining on his contract at $10M a year. In exchange the Sabres receive 32 year old winger Jakub Voracek (85 ovr), 28 year old C/LW Boone Jenner (82 ovr), 2022 1st round draft pick from Columbus and another 2022 1st round draft pick that was orignally from Chicago. The Buffalo Sabres now have 4 1st round draft picks in the upcoming 2022 draft. Their original pick, one from Columbus, one from Florida and one from Chicago via Columbus.

Voracek has 3 years left on his deal at $8.25M per season. Jenner has 1 year remaining at $3.75M.


With the preseason having come to a close, the Buffalo Sabres announced their opening night rosters.
